And no its not Beckham.

"Carl Cort took out a restraining order against his wife yesterday after he claimed she attacked him.

"Cort, who at 6ft3in towers over his wife, called police after they rowed at his flat in the early hours of yesterday morning.

"The 7million Newcastle United striker claimed Melissa, 22, attacked him three times - even after she broke two fingers when a door slammed.

"The 25-year-old player and his wife are going through a bitter divorce.

"Cort's solicitor Graham Shear said: "Carl went home with a female friend and found his wife in his flat, without permission.

'She attacked him and his friend and while he was defending himself his wife unfortunately suffered broken fingers.

'He drove her to hospital and stayed with her while she was treated.'

"The solicitor said that later that night she tried to attack Cort twice more.

"He added: 'The interim order stops her intimidating, harassing or pestering him, or coming within 50 metres of his flat.'

"Police went to the couple's old home in Wolsington Village, near Newcastle-upon -Tyne, to interview Melissa.

"But she was with a solicitor and said as yet she is not pressing charges after the row in Cort's flat on the city's quayside.

"Melissa was unavailable for comment. A friend said she was 'too busy'.

"Police said: 'We were called to a domestic incident.'

According to the papers Cort is now living in the quayside flat formerly occupied by Kieron Dyer.
