« Thread started on: Oct 31st, 2004, 08:17am »

Just wondered has anyone got this?

Everywhere ive been this weekend, in the shops ive seen peeps asking for it, and everywhere its sold out, never seen anything like it.

The GTA games have never really intrested me, so im not buying it, but wondered has anyone got it? and what on earth is all the fuss about?

Strange.

The postman should - God willing - be bringing it to me this morning.

I know Stainiak's got it and he says it rocks.
Macavity's got it and he says it is "God".

If you want to know what the fuss is about, then you'll either have to 1. play it or 2. go into some pretty deep research into it, possibly by checking the maker's website www.rockstargames.com/sanandreas/

I hope to be getting Grand Theft Auto; San Andreas. I love GTA. Beatin' the shit out of prostitutes is fun (on a game, of course).

Beating up hookers in real life has its perks too.

Nobody seems to have answered Shib's question!

I work for a well known high street entertainment store. Our main store in the City opened at midnight, as did our main competitor. I picked my copy up at 7, when said competitors local branch opened.

I opened my store at 9. By 915 we were sold out.

The game in itself I'm sad to say hasn't grabbed me like GTA3 did. It's fun to play, and once I start I don't stop for hours, but I don't get excited thinking about playing.

The radio stations don't have the wit or sparkle that Vice City's did, and the story line is a bit...bland.

The game itself however is much better. The terrain is more expansive and due to the lack of loading times, it's much easier to get lost. Due to the size of the environment, planes are nearly essential, and the altitude you can reach makes packing a parachute worth while.

The work you can do with the character himself is pretty snazzy too - you can exercise or diet him or let him become grossly overweight as you see fit, and hair and tattoos are fully customisable.

Also, weapon skill and vehicle skills improve through use, and the opponent AI and aggressiveness has been vastly increased; flying over a no fly zone to find yourself being shot down by a homing missile fired by a military fighter is quite an experience...

Overall, very good. Really, it is.

Hmm.

Think I need some convincing.

Yeah, the music sucks.

I had such high hopes for it, but it ended up being mainly rap, hip-hop or "Soul" or other urban crap I have no time for.

Yeah I know. I like how they play Guns N' Roses in the commercial ad and then it's all rap. Ridiculous.

So I'm assuming that we've all completed it...has anyone played it since?

I got 100% in about four weeks and I honestly have no interest in playing again. When I do fancy a bash, I never actually get further than getting the box of the shelf before a little bell starts ringing in my head saying I'll be let down and I put it away again.

I've not touched it since completing it either.

What a crock!

Though it has made me yearn to visit San Fransisco again.

Doing it on the Xbox atm - tis okay and all that but hardly classic gaming stuff. The story is a little linear and the only excitement is beating on hookers and cops for no reason.
