WWE Smackdown! *Spoilers* (11/30/04) - Richmond, Virginia

Report by: wrestlingobserver.com

Smackdown

- Joy comes out to ringside.

- Backstage, JBL, OJ, Amy, and the Bashams enter the arena. They run into
Teddy Long, who asks what was up with last week. JBL tells Teddy that the
Bashams are now the Secretaries of Defense in his cabinet. Teddy makes a
couple of matches for tonight ~ Bashams vs Eddie/Booker and JBL/OJ vs
Undertaker in a handicap match.

- SD opening plays on the screen. Fireworks were insanely loud.

- Mysterio/RVD/Torrie def. Dupree/Kenzo/Hiroko after RVD hit the 5-star frog
splash on one of his opponents and pinned the guy.

- There was a backstage promo with Hiroko complaining to Kenzo about his
fascination with Torrie. She was so pissed off she got herself a Bra &
Panties match against Torrie next week on SD, thinking she has the better
body. Kenzo grinned after Hiroko walked off.

- Tough Enough contestants come out. They pre-recorded comments about who
they would eliminate this week. Milzan (sp?), Reeves, and Smith all said
Puder. Puder said Smith. Reeves was eliminated by the fans. Al Snow told the
remaining three that this week’s challenge is that they would have to show
their feminine side and dress up like women.

- Haas (w/Jackie) vs Jesus (w/Carlito). Carlito gets on the mic and asks
Jackie why is she with Charlie when she can be with a cool guy like Carlito.
Haas hit Carlito, then Jesus beat on Haas a bit and gave him a chain shot to
the gut. The match never happened. Haas had to be helped to the back.

- Backstage, Teddy informs Carlito & Jesus that it will be Jesus vs Cena at
Armageddon in a Street Fight. (I don’t think he said whether or not the U.S.
title will be on the line, but I’d assume it will be.)

- Backstage, Booker & Eddie were stretching with Michelle and the two men
argued for the 2nd week in row.

- Eddie/Booker vs Bashams. JBL & OJ were at ringside. Towards the end, Eddie
was about to hit the frog splash on one of the Bashams when Booker got in
the way, complaining about something. Bashams took advantage and one of them
used the ropes to pin Eddie. After the match, JBL hit Eddie with a
clothesline from hell and did the same to Booker. JBL & OJ give the Bashams
props and they all leave the ring. After an ad on the big screen, Eddie &
Booker get up, almost fight, but don’t.

- Kurt Angle Invitational. Angle def. local jobber easily in less than a
minute.

- After Kurt’s match, Luther gets on the mic and says he wants to apologize
to Joy for last week by taking her on a date. Joy gets in the ring and turns
him down cuz she has a date with Big Show. This pisses Luther off…he,
Kurt, and Jindrak are about to put their hands on Joy when Big Show comes
out and cleans house. After Angle & co retreat to the back, Joy gives Big
Show a hug.

- Tough Enough contestants come back out dressed like women. Al Snow calls
out Hardcore Holly to be a part of this “challenge”. At first Holly doesn’t
want any part of it, but after Snow implied he was a coward, Holly changed
his mind. Each of the guys aka drag queens hit on Holly. Milzan won the
contest. After Snow told people to vote, Holly decked him with a punch (that
may not be shown on TV).

- Dawn comes out, asking the crowd who looks better as Santa ~ her or
Jackie. The crowd didn’t really favor one over the other. Jackie runs out
and the two girls catfought. Teddy comes out and makes a match between them
for the PPV.

- Taker def. JBL & OJ by DQ when the two men low-blowed Taker. After the
match, JBL, OJ, and the Bashams beatdown to Taker to close the show.

After the TV cameras appeared to stop rolling, JBL challenged a weakened
Taker to a one-on-one match. JBL was the aggressor at first, but then Taker
turned the tables, kicked his ass, took out OJ & the Bashams, chokeslammed
JBL and then tombstoned JBL. Taker left after that. A couple minutes later,
JBL comes to and asks for a mic. He’s still on the ground, talking nonsense
and acting like a dumbass. It was kinda funny though. When he finally stood
up on his feet, he fell right back down. Chimmel thanked us for coming and
that was all.

It was a very solid show overall. Nothing sucked except for the 2nd Tough
Enough segment ~ it was stupid crap I didn’t need to see. All the matches
from both SD & Velocity were decent at the very least. The crowd was a lil
crazy IMO. Mostly everyone got a reaction; Taker got the biggest pops of the
night.

xx **SPOILERS** WWE SmackDown! Tapings Results Dec 7
« Reply #17 on: Dec 8th, 2004, 01:36am »

Thanks to eremy Maes of PWTorch for these:

Hey kids it's your third favorite Lounger coming with some exclusive Smackdown spoilers. Smackdown will be brought to the viewing audience this week from beautiful downtown Greenville, SC. The United States capital of religious hypocrisy Bob Jones University and well, that's about it. Anyway, let's get on to the spoilers.

We made out way in the arena and found our nice, cozy, third row seats four chairs away from the aisle opposite the hard camera. Depending on how they edit the show IU should be in full view when wrestlers come down the ring. So, the big scary guy with the "I do my own stunts shirt" is yours truly and I ain't pretty. You have been warned. The show started promptly at 7:38 with the first match between an old friend and a faceless Indy worker. The names here are going to be haphazard because the Bi-Lo Center sound system is atrocious. At hockey games you can barely make out what is being said over the PA system and that is with no crowd noise what so ever.

DARK MATCHES

(1) Faceless Indy worker defeated Lodi. Yep you read that right, there has been a Lodi sighting and it was good. Lodi came out with his usual sign. One side read "Lodi Hates Greenville" and the other read "Lodi is great" or something to that effect. I was trying in vain to pound my beer before it spilled all over the ground, plus the incredible buzz of pounding a sixteen ounce beer in a minute and I missed the other side. The FIW( faceless Indy worker) was announced as Greenville native so the crowd jumped on his side. The match was average with Lodi looking good as well as the FIW. FIW won the match with a neckbreaker but only after a very convincing near fall after a spike DDT by Lodi.

(2) Brunette Indy worker defeated Blond Indy Worker. I dubbed this the battle of the strippers. The blonde was announced wrestling out of North Carolina and the brunette from Colorado. The brunette Indy worker won the match after some sloppy and I mean sloppy exchanges. If it matters, the crowd ate up the blonde Indy worker. She has the WWE look about her save her chest. And we all know that can be fixed nowadays.

I believe this is where Velocity will take place. They lowered the arena lights so the near empty upper portion of the arena would not be seen. I need to mention the crowd capacity here. Monday afternoon I received an e-mail saying there was a link on Ticketmaster for free Smackdown tickets through the different large corporations here in Greenville. I went to the site and found that you could still get lower bowl seats for roughly $4.00. This is when I knew the WWE was in trouble. When I got to the arena the upper portion of the arena was entirely tarped off except for two sections. Those two sections had half of the seats tarped off. When I was here for Raw two years a go the arena was much fuller with only the upper deck on the hard camera side tarped off. This cannot be an encouraging sign for the WWE.

Anyhoo, the green Velocity hue came over the Smackdown fist and Kidman's music played.

VELOCITY TAPING

(1) Spike Dudley defeated C.W. Anderson.. C.W. looks a lot different than his ECW days. He looks older and thinner. I suppose that is a fair trade off. Spike came out to a loud chorus of boos and had his sweet goatee in full effect. This was an interesting contrast in styles since Spike can barely throw a kazoo around let alone someone who weighs three times as much as he does. So, C.W. grounded Spike but Spike countered with his quick strike offense. Near the end, C.W. caught Spike with the Anderson Spinebuster and scored a convincing near fall. By convincing I mean the entire crowd, myself included, thought it was over and we had an upset on our hands. But Spike kicked out and delivered the Dudley Dog from the middle rope for the victory.

(2) Paul London defeated Billy Kidman. Finally, I get to see Paul London live and in person and up close. Apparently I was the only person who gave a rat's ass about him since I was the only person cheering during his short intro. Paul ran in the ring and attacked Kidman before the bell so they rang the bell starting the match. If only the real world ran that way, sigh. This was a very good back and forth contest with London showing great fire and Kidman acting smug the entire time even when he was being whipped by London. The end came when Kidman missed a Shooting Star Press allowing London to hit his 450 Splash for the pin. This was easily the best match on the card. It made me want to catch Velocity for a change to hear the commentary and see how it plays out across the tube. After the match Melodie turned to me and said" Paul London is hot." So there you go, a ladies perspective and the first of many tonight.

(3) Luther Reigns defeated Hardcore Holly. Luther came out with a surprising amount of boos. Hardcore followed with an equally surprising amount of cheers. When did Bob Holly become a face? Did I miss an episode of Smackdown? I know he was a face when he fought Lesnar but who would cheer for that guy willingly? The two exchanged hard clubbing blows on each other's necks and backs and then exchanged chops. Reins got the upper hand at first and then allowed Holly to get back in the match. Bob gave him the kick in the gut through the legs move and Luther finished Holly off with his finisher for the clean victory.

After the match they must not have liked the finish so Luther came all the way back down the aisle and allowed Hardcore to kick his ass and give him the Alabama slam. Luther then rolled out again as Hardcore soaked up the audience's cheers. As he walked by I reminded Bob "You still lost. Rene Dupree put up a better fight than you did." He either ignored me or did not hear me. I figure he did not hear me.

I am getting the feeling I forgot a match for some reason. If so I apologize, if no, well then I have no idea what I am saying.

SMACKDOWN TAPINGS

The lights went out and on the Smackdown-a-tron they played the WWE Divas video. During the video a large crew of WWE workers came down to the ring. Towering over the group was one hooded "crew member" who faked like he was talking on a walkie talkie. The crew managed their way around the ring and the tall person disappeared. The crew did not even stop to do work. They simply walked around the ring and walked back, minus one person of course. You have one guess who it will be.

JBL's music played and the entire cabinet accompanied him in the ring. Orlando Jordan, the diva chick, The Turtle Neck twins and JBL all waited around until Smackdown cold opens this week with JBL cutting a promo. JBL said that he is going through something no other WWE champion has gone through before. He does say that past WWE champions Bruno Sammartino, Andre the Giant, Bret Hart, Steve Austin and The Rock all have something in common, "On their best day and in the best shape of their lives they could not beat me." JBL also calls Teddy Long a piece of garbage and an example of affirmative action being wrong. I looked at Orlando Jordan and he was nodding along with JBL so no hints of dissension. JBL talks about beating up the Undertaker and the lights go out. When the lights come back on The Undertaker attacks JBL and his cabinet. He chokeslams both Basham Brothers as JBL and Orlando skeedaddle.

(1) Funaki won a cruiserweight battle royal. The match featured, Paul London, Akio, Nunzio, Billy Kidman, Chavo Guerrero, Funaki and Shannon Moore who entered the ring out in that order. The winner of the battle royal will face Spike Dudley at Armageddon. Nunzio was first out. Then Paul London (by Kidman). Akio, who was stealing the crowds attention was next, the final three were Chavo, Kidman and Funaki. As Chavo tried boosting Kidman over the top, Funaki snuck in and tossed them both. Funaki reacted as if Triple H agreed he would drop the strap to Funaki. The crowd was really in to Akio and Funaki so they were happy.

After the match Teddy long caught up with JBL. JBL reiterated that Teddy was garbage and was only out to screw him. Orlando spoke up and teddy shut him down by telling him to take the base out of his voice. Teddy told JBL if any member f his cabinet interferes Sunday he will strip him of the title on the spot. JBL walked away in disgust and was intercepted by the Bashams. They told him there had been a security breach. When they went to JBL's limo it was on blocks and the tires had been stolen.

Backstage Miss Jackie Gayda pleaded with Charlie Hass not too go out and fight Jesus in a street fight. She said Jesus is invincible and look what they did to you. Hass revealed two severely bloody eyes. Not sure if he was wearing contacts but they looked nasty. He said he knew what he had to do and left her behind. On his way out, Josh Matthews, wearing a turtle neck, asked him about being the referee in the match between Jackie and Dawn Marie, he said he knows as an official he will call it don the line but quickly added "Come on. Jackie is my fiancee. Of course I will be biased. But that is Sunday and I have work to do."

(2) Jesus defeated Charlie Hass. At least I think he beat him. Carlito came down with Jesus and was promptly tossed out by Charles Robinson. So, Carlito spit the apple in his face. The problem though is that the apple did not make enough of a mess so Carlito came back down and they did the entire scenario over again. This time the apple was nice and juicy and poor Charles paid the price. Charlie cam down and immediately took control. He ran out of the ring, grabbed chair and prepared to hit Jesus with it when Carlito's voice came over the PA. "Charlie looks like I have something of yours.' Carlito said as he stepped outside the curtain with Dawn Marie in his clutches. In the ring Charlie was obviously distracted and this allowed Jesus to punch him in the back of the neck with the chain wrapped around his fist. His is where it gets confusing. There was no official word but the referee called for the bell. So, either Jesus won or the match was tossed out.

After the match Dawn Marie ran in the ring to care for Charlie. Well you can guess who followed. The two tended to Charlie until their hands met. When they did the two women stared at each other for literally, I mean literally, four straight minutes. It looked like they were trying to figure out who was going to make the first move in a lesbian porn scene. They inched closer and closer together but never cam to blows nor smooches. Charles Robinson went over and held up Charlie's head in a touching scene while the two females seduced each other with their eyes. Finally, Charlie got up, rolled out of the ring and started walking to the back. Dawn slid under his left shoulder and Jackie slid under his right shoulder as he helped him to the back. As they walked by Charlie looked at each of them and just shook his head. If this plays out right, Charlie will be the biggest stud on Smackdown.

Eddie Guerrero walked to the ring rolling a tire. He cut a promo about JBL's car and how he could get him a deal on new tires. In fact he new of a deal that you could consider a steal. Pretty boring but Eddie has so much charisma everyone was listening to each and every word.

After a commercial break Torrie Wilson was posing for some fake photos when some flowers arrived. She was happy and read the card. Her happiness turned to sorrow when the card read from Kenzo Suzuki. She said, "Kenzo is such a jerk. He is married." This brought out Hiroku who accused Torrie of calling her husband a jerk. So Hiroku does what any well trained attack wife would do and stripped Torrie Wilson down to her underwear. Hiroko then bolted the scene but Torrie chased after her. Torrie finally caught her and ripped her robe off exposing Hiroko bra and panties. What Hiroko did not realize was that she was now standing in the arena for the entire world to see. When she tried running backstage Torrie was there to meet her. But when Torrie tried catching her she could not make it out of the curtain. Finally, Torrie chased her around the ring but then ran in to Renee Dupree and Kenzo. The two men backed her in the ring ad threatened physical harm. This brought out Rey Mysterio and RVD. They cleared the ring and Teddy Long came out. He said since they do not like each other and "have a big bowl of haterade he is booking a match between them right now. Since they are fighting now there is no reason to wait for Armageddon so the match is for the titles.

(3) RVD & Rey Mysterio defeated Kenzo Suzuki & Rene Dupree. We have us some new tag team champions ladies and gentlemen. This was the best match of the night with all four men going at a pretty good clip and were all breathing hard five minutes in to the match. Without giving away too much. Rye Mysterio pinned Kenzo with a roll up aided by holding RVD's arms for the title clinching victory. After the match Dupree left on his won and did not look pleased with Kenzo. Dupree is a big kid in person as well as Kenzo. Say what you will about his athletic prowess but the crowd ate up Kenzo's comedy bits in the video packages and the in ring bits.

Then the sounds of clocks echoed in the arena as John Heidenreich sat in some undisclosed place. He looked distant and the ticking clock got louder and louder. Paul Heyman came in and told John he had to take his medicine and that he has good news for John. Heidenreich can leave "this place" and return to Smackdown next week. Heidenreich declined and says he likes it here. He said" They like me in here. Those people out there do not like me." He said he was never coming back to Smackdown. If that is true, whom do I thank?

(4) Big Show defeated Mark Jindrak by DQ. This started as the Kurt Angle invitational challenge. The announcer introduced his opponent and everybody thought it was going to be the FIW from earlier. But then the Big Show came out. Angle jumped all over that saying he knew what Show was up to and that it was not going to work. He said there is nothing he can do about Sunday and he is going to pay. Luther got in Big Shows face and said he knows someone who is dieing to fight him. He said, "that person is Mark Jindrak." Jindrak was shocked but had little chance for worry as Show attacked him. In a very funny spot, Show hushed the audience and then gave Jindrak the worst sounding chop ever. It was equal parts crack and thud and it just sounded painful. After Kurt unsuccessfully tried interfering Luther jumped in the ring and caused the DQ. They beat up Big Show and the angle ended with Kurt throwing the steel steps in Big Shows back.

Booker T was backstage working out with that Michelle McCool Diva loser. She was helping Booker stretch by bouncing on the muscle, which is a clear no-no and a great way for someone to tear a muscle. If she is a personal trainer she should be fired. But then the muscle she is working is probably not for the viewing audience anyway. Booker did some physical comedy with JBL's hat and said he was going to win the belt Sunday.

(5) Booker T & Undertaker & Eddie Guerrero defeated JBL & The Cabinet. A solid match with the usual chikensh-- heel tactics of JBL. Tactics that were generating a ton of heat with the live audience. At one point all seven men were facing off and JBL jumped in the crowd hiding from The Undertaker. The end came when Taker tombstoned Orlando and scored the pin.

POST-TAPINGS HAPPENINGS

After the cameras shut, off all three faces stayed in the ring celebrating. They then stopped and all admired the belt. This allowed JBL to sneak back in the ring with a chair but he was cut off. Taker gave him a chokeslam. Eddie gave him a frogsplash and Booker did the Spinaroonie. Then all three left and JBL finally came around and grabbed his belt. As he walked to the back the announcer stated that JBL was still your WWE champ.

All in all this was a rally good time. I am not sure how effective it will be for selling the Armageddon PPV but as a live event everybody left satisfied. The fact the tag titles changed hands made the show more fun. The titles may change hands a lot but it is always fun seeing new champions crowned in person.

xx WWE Smackdown! *Spoilers* (12/14/04) - Nashville,
« Reply #19 on: Dec 16th, 2004, 01:38am »

Tazz and Cole come out, and the ring begins to get decorated for tonight’s show. Orlando comes in, the ring is set, and we are ready for tonight’s Smackdown!

The intro/pyro rolls and Orlando, in the middle of a ring decorated in red, white, and blue banners, ask us to welcome the WWE Champion, John Bradshaw Layfield! The limo pulls up with JBL and Amy riding on top if it like a bull, with the Bashams dressed as Secret Service closely in tow. As the confetti and balloons rain, JBL makes his way to the ring. He then proceeds to tell us how tonight is the return of a heo, and tonight will be a moment that you will never forget! All great things come in 3’s, FDR, Regan, and JBL for examples. He also fought three of the best superstars at Armageddon, Booker T, Eddie Guerrero, and The Undertaker, and he beat them all to retain the title once more. That his was the greatest title victory and he is the greatest champion of all time, despite having a GM more biast and corrupt and fans that refuse to chant his name. Thus starts a massive “You Suck!” chant. He then screams at the audience to chant his name! Chant my name!
All of a sudden, Kurt Angle’s music rolls and in walks Angle with Reigns and Jindrak in tow. They go right for the ring and Kurt goes nose to nose with JBL. Bradshaw tells him that he is interuppting his party, and that unless he is here to congratulate him, he better get out! Angle then asks what was that about JBL being the greatest champion, sorry, but no. I am! Do you remember Armageddon, 2000? Angle beat 5 men, The Rock, Stone Cold, Rikishi, Triple H, and The Undertaker in a 6-Man Hell in a Cell match for the Title. And besides, I invented the over the top championship celebration, BUCKO! (Yes, Angle called JBL Bucko, and he never lets it drop. It is a riot! Numerous Bucko chants during this segment)
Bradshaw states that wasn’t that four years ago? My, how the mighty have fallen! Angle then calls out John BUCKO Layfield and challenges him to a title match tonight, for the WWE Championship. JBL says that would be a great match, and it’s an excellent idea, but no. He is going to take time off for the holidays and it just isn’t going to happen!
In walks the Smackdown GM, Teddy Mac. Teddy tells JBL that you don’t control when you take time off, I do. You don’t make matches, I do. Let me ask the audience if they would like to see this match. JBL then states that the audience shouldn’t be asked but his pleas are not heard as Teddy as an informal poll. Needless to say, resounding cheers fill the arena. Tonight, says Teddy, it will be JBL Vs. Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship. Ho, ho ho JBL, or should I say, Holla…Holla, Holla and with that Teddy leaves the ring, followed by everyone else during the break.
During the break a video package rolls for the new Diva video, South of the Border.

Akio/Kidman Vs. RVD/Rey Mysterio (Non-title match)
Back in the ring, Akio and Kidman have made their way to the ring to face RVD and Rey for a non title tag team match. Kidman and Rey start it off but soon it is Akio and Rey, and Akio is in the ropes set up for a 619. (It being Nashville, I was prepared for 615 chants, our area code, but yet I heard none, sadly.) Akio tries to retort but ends up kicking Kidman out of the ring. Soon it is RVD and Kidman in the ring, and RVD hits the Rolling Thunder, but to no avail. Postions change and Kidman ends up dragging RVD to the corner for the Moonsault, but he misses. RVD then drags Kidman to the center of the ring and connects with a five star for the 3 count.
Winners - RVD and Mysterio

Don’t forget, tonight we crown the next Tough Enough Champion and later on tonight JBL defends his title against Kurt Angle. Another Blade commercial runs and we are shortly joined by Torrie Wilson in an Uncle Sam outfit. She says that she is proud to wear these colors, and then talks about the troops in Iraq and how great it was to go. She reminds us that next week is the Annual Christmans in Baghdad Smackdown! and then leaves the ring.

Right after that, Heidenreich comes from the audience, behind Cole and Tazz, and Cole flips out and heads to the entrance, looking nervous. Heidenreich grabs a chair and sits in the middle of the ring, and we are graced with more poetry by Heidenreich. The poem is anti-Taker and this gets a solid Taker chant going. Finally it ends and he leaves…but never soon enough.
Eddie and Booker T are shown in the back saying that even though they were fighting at the pay per view, they were on the same page, and get along great. Some random TNA comes in and they ogle it. The conversation leads into a tease fight between them until Booker cracks up and begins to laugh saying that he loves to push Eddie’s buttons, it’s so easy. Now, let’s go kick some ass!
There was some words spoken about the Cena match from the PPV but we never heard them, so I have no clue why the image was shown. Also, don’t forget that next week is the Best of RAW 2004! After that, the Royal Rumble commercial airs. Being and actor, this is the best commercial, and the funniest that I have ever seen!
We come back to Orlando at the GM’s door, but another girl is there saying that Mr. Long is meditating and cannot be interuppted. Orlando walks away angry and runs into Reigns. Luther is laughing at Orlando trying to get JBL out of the match and the two begin to get into swapping ways their champion is better than the other, until Orlando states that JBL provides healthcare. Luther get seriously interested but quickly throws it away and they get angry a little more before they depart.

Kenzo/Dupree vs. Booker T/Eddie
Eddie enters to the largest pop of the night. This was a pretty solid match but I got into the match and forgot to take notes. The heels never really dominanted and the crowd seemed very into the match. Booker gets the Book End on Kenzo and starts to feel it. He hits the spinarooni, as Hiroko sneaks in the ring behind Booker with a Kendo stick. She makes to hit him with it just before Booker turns around and scares her out of the ring. Eddie is the actual legal man and hits the frog splash, sealing the victory.
Winners - Booker T/Eddie

Orlando walks into JBL’s dressing room telling him the match is still going on. JBL gets angry when he thinks no one has confidence in him. Amy then tells him that it is ok, that he will be champion and get to go overseas next week. JBL gets nervous saying that it is a war zone, but Amy says the whoever the champion is has to go and represent WWE. Then Carlito shows up, with a proposition for JBL. They both have a problem, Teddy. Long is always on both their backs, so after your match tonight, let’s talk. Sounds like a plan, says JBL. Carlito takes a big bite out of his apple and the Cabinet gets nervous. Mr. Cool just smiles and walks away.

The WWE Slam of the week is Funaki beating Spike for the Cruiserweight Belt at Armageddon. Tazz and Cole get some screentime here I think, and then a ThemeAddict comercial airs. Some footage from the new Smackdown Vs. Raw game shows us what the JBL/Angle match could be like.

WHAT DOES EVERYBODY WANT?! Time for to crown the next Tough Enough Champion. Al Snow is in the ring and invites Mike Mizanin and Daniel Puder to the ring where the trophy is. This took no time at all, and Al Snow crowns Puder as the next champion. He also asks him how would he like a chance to headline Wrestlemania? Puder has been entered into the 30 Man Royal Rumble in January. Both guys were very good sports about it all, but Mizanin says that this is where he wants to be now, and will find a way!

Angle is shown in the locker room as Reigns comes in. Angle begins to bash on all pro-sports for awhile and Reigns tells Angle not to worry, that he and Jindrak will be there to take on the cabinet. He then complains about his back to Jindrak and Angle asks him what he is talking about. It’s nothing says Luther…Well..Orlando gets health care from JBL….Angle gets furious, forget health care! I’ve got a match, next!

ECW commericial, and Teddy makes his way to Tazz and Cole to comment on the match. The older Iraq commercial is shown and we come back to two local 101st Airborne members and we are shown that the Air Force Commander is in attendance. Man, that explains the beef in security in the house. Some new Diva makes her way down to the ring in a Mrs. Santa outfit, passing out candy canes before we start our main event.

JBL Vs. Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship
Kurt and crew make their way to the ring first. Then JBL comes out with the Cabinet, and as he begins to enter the ring, the Diva offers JBL a candy cane, and Amy gets furious. Could it be? Are we that lucky? YES! Catfight! This ends with each girl getting held back until Amy decides to rip the Diva’s top off, and the favor is returned. Finally Teddy Mac has had enough and throws everyone out but the two competitors. Finally our match gets under way as Angel is chewing on JBL’s hat. More Bucko chants fill the air, as well as numerous Let’s Go Angle chants! They go back and forth for awhile, ankle lock here and there, until after awhile Orlando Jordon comes running into the ring while Angle has JBL in an ankle lock, but he misses and flies out the ring. The Bashams show up followed by Jindrak and Reigns. While the ref is distracted, our course JBL is tapping. Orlando gets back in the ring and JBL gets DQ’ed. Angle wins, but no title. WELLLLLL!!!!!! Big Show’s msuic hits and he makes his way to the ring. A choke slam for Jindrak, as well as one for Reigns. A dual choke slam for the Bashams, and Show picks up Orlando and takes him out with a F-5. JBL has snuck his way up the ramp as Show signals from the ring that he is coming for the belt! I am pretty sure this is where the cameras end.
Winner - Angle by DQ

And here is the recap of the Casket Match:
Chimmel tells us that Long has ordered OJ and JBL to face Taker in a handicapped casket match, right now. JBL comes out, whines while they set up the casket, until Taker’s music hits. Taker makes his slow way into the ring, and JBL is there with his face in his hands. JBL and OJ want to run but they come back and peak in the casket, and in doing so decides to get back in the ring. Swings are swapped and eventually JBL quickly ends up in the casket, but no lid has been closed because OJ shows up just in time. Taker now has JBL in the casket acting a fool, and is beating OJ down into a corner. JBL gets out and together they team up on Taker in the corner. They try to get him in the casket but can’t! OJ ends up in the casket while Taker and JBL duke it out in the ring. JBL low blows Taker, as Taker falls out of the ring. They team up on Taker using the stairs, but a missed stair shot turns the tables. Taker is back in control and beats OJ into the top of the casket, and throws JBL’s face into the lid as well. JBL gets back up and regains control as they lead Taker near the ramp and begins to choke Taker with some cable. Taker lowblows JBL and tossed OJ into the casket, but too hard and OJ flies through, out the other side. JBL outmaneuvers Taker and grabs a steel chair but not in time as he gets a facefull of Taker’s boot. Taker tosses JBL, then OJ into the ring. He performs a little oldschool on JBL. Then OJ begins to wail on Taker some more as JBL opens the casket. This ends with OJ falling over JBL and into the casket. Taker gets a chokeslam in on JBL, and closes the lid on OJ. The crowd calls for a tombstone, and Taker gives one as requested to JBL and throws him inside with OJ. The casket is rolled out with both men inside and Taker makes his way to the back, sucking up the crowd response.
Winner - The Undertaker

The arena was almost completely full. It was awesome to see that many people in the there. The crowd got into everythign and rarely was silent. For the record, Tony Chimmel is one of the funniest people I’ve seen. The guy is a riot! Overall it wasn’t a bad final show of the year, but there was no Cena, as I assume he was off filming his movie still.

READY FOR A SHOWDOWN
JAN. 27, 2005

Suddenly, Big Show’s problems don’t seem so bad.

One week after WWE Champion JBL and Kurt Angle shocked the world, forming an unlikely alliance and violently attacking Show with a steel chair and ring steps, the biggest Superstar in WWE got some creative revenge.

Show convinced SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long to arrange a Last Man Standing match between JBL and Angle for the main event on SmackDown!

The result was an exhausting battle that left both JBL and Angle down and out as Show watched from a backstage monitor wearing a devilish grin.

The match was a draw, with both Angle and JBL taking vicious shots with a chair and being unable to get up before the required 10-count.

Now, all three Superstars appear to be on equal footing for their highly-anticipated Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble this Sunday on pay-per-view from Fresno, California.

Meanwhile, SmackDown! had another qualifier Thursday as Paul London won a wild Fatal Fourway, defeating Shannon Moore, Cruiserweight Champion Funaki and Spike Dudley to earn a spot in the Royal Rumble Match.

John Cena defended his United States Championship for the second time in three weeks against Kenzo Suzuki. He then grabbed the mic and told the fans he was ready to roll with the Chain Gang into the Royal Rumble and emerge victorious.

Heidenreich read another poem, as his Casket Match with Undertaker this Sunday rapidly approaches. His words were somewhat slurred however, as the unstable giant began foaming from the mouth before dropping to his knees.

The coalition between JBL’s and Angle’s factions managed to last all of about 10 minutes as Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak & Chief of Staff Orlando Jordan teamed up to face Eddie Guerrero, Booker T & Rey Mysterio in a six-man tag match.

After the coalition was defeated, a brawl between Reigns, Jordan and Jindrak soon followed before Angle and JBL stormed the ring, quickly dissolving the fleeting alliance.

MATCH RESULTS

Eddie Guerrero, Booker T & Rey Mysterio def. Orlando Jordan, Luther Reigns & Mark Jindrak
Paul London def. Funaki, Spike Dudley and Shannon Moore (Fatal Fourway)
U.S. Champion John Cena def. Kenzo Suzuki

Kurt Angle vs. JBL, Double Countout, Last Man Standing Match

xx Smackdown Spoilers - January 31, 2005 in San Jose,
« Reply #24 on: Feb 1st, 2005, 11:09am »

John Cena enters to a MASSIVE POP and plays to the crowd. Teddy Long comes out and explains that he's having a tournament to determine the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21. He mentions that, should Batista decide to join the Smackdown roster, Smackdown's WrestleMania main event will be a Triple Threat Match between the winner of No Way Out's Steel Cage Barbed Wire Match, the winner of the tournament, and Batista. John "Bradshaw" Layfield comes out with "Chief of Staff" Orlando Jordan and whines about the stipulations. Long mentions the upcoming tournament matches - next week is John Cena vs. Orlando Jordan and Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio. JBL tells Cena that he's not in the same league as him. Jordan attacks Cena from behind, Cena throws Jordan over the top rope and gives JBL an FU. Cena leaves.

Kurt Angle Invitational: Kurt Angle vs. Nunzio. Kurt Angle comes out with security guards holding his gold medal. Nunzio's music hits and he walks out and confronts Angle. Angle questions Nunzio as to why he's there since he's not from San Jose. Nunzio responds that tonight, he will be from San Jose and since Kurt Angle punked him out and took his Royal Rumble number yesterday, he wanted some revenge. This match was all about Angle dominating Nunzio, although during the match, Nunzio did bust out the Sicilian Jumping Jacks.

Winner: Kurt Angle via submission (Ankle Lock)

Rey Mysterio vs. Mark Jindrak. Huge pop for Rey Rey. Good match where Rey used his quickness and agility and Jindrak used his strength, leading to a back-and-forth match.

Winner: Rey Mysterio via pinfall (springboard)

Handicap Match: The Big Show vs. "Secretaries of Defense" The Basham Brothers. Big Show started the match by using his strength and throwing both Bashams around like ragdolls. The massive chops Show was giving was reverberating throughout the stadium.

Winner: The Big Show via pinfall (chokeslam)

Rene Dupree (w/ white Fifi) vs. The Undertaker. A fair amount of heat for Dupree, WILD POP for The Undertaker, in a very rare Smackdown appearance. During the match, Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns came out and were distracting and attacking Taker whilst the referee wasn't looking. At the end of the match, Jindrak and Reigns caused Dupree and Undertaker to take the fight outside of the ring. The ref started counting and, even though Undertaker was near the ring, he couldn't get in quick enough due to his leg being attacked during the match.

Winner: n/a (Double Count-Out)

After the match, Undertaker gave Dupree a Tombstone Piledriver and posed in the middle of the ring.

Main Event: Booker T vs. Eddie Guerrero. Wow, Booker's pyro is HOT. Eddie and his low rider got an INSANE reaction from the crowd, as they were chanting his name all night and were excited to see him. Booker dominated the majority of this match. The match was slow-paced, which elicited some "boring" chants from the crowd. Lots of rest-holds were used, which wasn't helping since the entire crowd just sat through both a Raw and a Smackdown show. There were a couple of ref-bumps during the match. One of them, Booker pinned Eddie for over a 3-count, but once the ref regained consciousness to start the count, Eddie kicked out. Eddie tried to lie, cheat, and steal his way to victory by pretending that his knee was hurt, but Booker was smart and didn't get distracted.

Winner: Booker T via pinfall

After the match, Booker T got on the mic and said that Eddie was his amigo, his compadre, his friend. And said that he just kicked Eddie's ass in San Jose. Booker T then attacked Eddie in what seemed like a heel turn. Eddie got the upper hand and hit a frog splash on Booker.

I'm assuming the cameras went off at this point. Teddy Long came back out and told the crowd not to leave yet and that he promised the crowd a handicap match, so he would deliver one. Kind of an odd statement since we did see a handicap match with Big Show and the Bashams earlier, but oh well. GM Long sets up a match with JBL and Orlando vs The Big Show. JBL and Orlando come out and JBL screams at Teddy, calling him "Peanut Head". The Big Show's music hits and this match gets under way. Back-and-forth match, but Big Show is able to get JBL out of the ring and isolate Jordan.

Winner: The Big Show via pinfall (chokeslam)

Tony Chimmel thanks us all for coming.

Random Show Notes: The stadium looked very full. The Smackdown lesser divas (Michelle McCool and....uh....the other ones not Torrie or Dawn or Miss Jackie) threw shirts to the crowd prior to the show. There was no huge Smackdown fist on the set. Big Show is ENORMOUS. Eddie's name was chanted in between each and every match. Some flunkie immediately drove Eddie's lowrider to the back after Eddie got into the ring - maybe the lowrider had a curfew. JBL's limo wasn't seen. The crowd loves The Undertaker, plain and simple.

xx WWE Smackdown! *Spoilers* (2/5/05) - Saitama, Japa
« Reply #25 on: Feb 7th, 2005, 02:35am »

Report by: 1wrestling.com

Smackdown:

That was the main event of Velocity, so they turned off all the lights in the stadium and announced that Smackdown! would be starting. First, Shane McMahon came out to a really big pop. He thanked the audience for coming and said that WWE would definitely be coming back to Japan in the near future.

Then they played a video for the live crowd showing Kenzo Suzuki and Hiroko speaking in Japanese. Kenzo said that he was an international superstar, and that Japan was too small of a country for him. He finished the speech by saying “God bless America” in English. Funny stuff.

After that, they played the Smackdown! opening theme and got the crowd hyped up with some pyro. The first match of the show was Eddie Guerrero versus Kenzo Suzuki.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Kenzo Suzuki

Eddie rode out in his lowrider and got a huge pop, while Kenzo received tons of heat from his home crowd. At one point, there was even a “Kenzo sucks!” chant. Pretty decent match, with Eddie winning it with the Frog Splash.

Winner: Eddie Guerrero

After this was a video of Angle’s crew in the back. Angle asked Reigns if he was scared of Undertaker, and Reigns said he wasn’t. Next up was a tag match for the belts between the Bashams and Reigns/Jindrak

Tag Team Championship

Basham Brothers (c) vs. Luther Reigns & Mark Jindrak

This was the point when lots of people went to take a bathroom break. Bad idea, though, as a couple minutes into the match, all the lights went out in the arena, and a bell sounded. The lights turned back on, and standing in the ring was Undertaker! He cleared the ring of the Bashams and Reigns, and went to work on Jindrak, chokeslamming his hard onto the mat. Reigns looked on from the outside and backed away slowly.

At this point, my memory starts to get fuzzy, so forgive me if things are out of order. I think the next thing that happened was a skit in the back with JBL and Amy. JBL took out a tranquilizer gun and said he was going to knock out the Big Show with it. Somehow, Amy ended up accidentally shooting JBL, knocking him woozy. After this was a Cruiserweight Championship match!

Cruiserweight Championship

Chavo Guerrero vs. Funaki (c)

Funaki got one of the biggest pops of the night when he came out, and the crowd stayed hot for his moves throughout the match. Pretty decent match here, with Funaki picking up the victory with a tornado DDT.

Winner: Funaki

After this, Joy came out looking hot, and shot some t-shirts into the crowd. Then it was time for the next match.

John Cena vs. Orlando Jordan

Cena got the biggest ovation of the night, with the whole arena erupting when his music hit. He made quick work of Jordan, hitting him with all of his signature moves. He finished it off, of course, with the F-U.

Winner: John Cena

After this was the T and A portion of the show, with Hiroko taking on Torrie in a kimono match.

Kimono Match

Torrie Wilson vs. Hiroko

Just your standard T and A here. Torrie won by ripping off Hiroko’s kimono, but Torrie stayed in the ring afterwards and stripped anyway. Next!

JBL then came down to the ring staggered, carrying a blowup doll of a Godzilla-type dinosaur. He was slurring his words and calling the dinosaur Big Show, when suddenly the real Big Show’s music hit! Show climbed into the ring and stared down JBL. JBL then took a cheap shot on Show and blasted him with the Clothesline from Hell! After this JBL’s cabinet ran down and pummeled Show, holding him down for JBL to hit him with a chair. Show powered out at the last minute, though, chokeslamming the Bashams and Jordan. JBL managed to escape unharmed. After this was the main event.

Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle

Mysterio and Angle both got good reactions from the crowd, and they put on a great show. This was definitely the best match of the night. Mysterio went for the 619 a few times before finally hitting it on the third try. On the first try, Angle ducked, garnering a huge “OOOOH” from the crowd. On the second, Angle grabbed Mysterio by the leg and put him in the Ankle Lock, but Rey managed to escape. Finally on the third try, Rey got him with hit, making the crowd erupt. Angle got in his signature offense too, hitting his overhead belly-to-belly suplex and the Angle Slam. In the end, Angle countered a move by Mysterio and made him tape with the Ankle Lock. Great match!

Winner: Kurt Angle

They stopped filming here, but there was one more match for the live crowd.

Heidenreich vs. Undertaker

Taker got a huge reaction and many chants here. The match itself was actually pretty boring. Both men worked on each other’s arms throughout the bout. Undertaker scored the submission victory with some sort of armbar/chicken wing hold, which left the crowd somewhat confused. Heidenreich then attacked Undertaker after the match, however, allowing Taker to hit his big moves! He gave Heidenreich the chokeslam, and then drilled him with the Tombstone to end the show.

Overall, a very entertaining show, with the best matches being Angle vs. Mysterio, and London vs. Akio. The other matches really weren’t that great, but they were fun to watch. It just goes to show the difference between the two rosters, as SmackDown! just doesn’t have the star power of Raw. Also, one disappointing thing was that Booker T wasn’t at the show. But, the show was fun to watch, and definitely worth my money.

Biggest Pops:

1. John Cena
2. Undertaker
3. Funaki
4. Eddie Guerrero
5. Big Show/Akio

Biggest Heat:

1. Kenzo Suzuki
2. Kurt Angle
3. Heidenreich
4. Rene Dupree
5. JBL

Thanks to WWE.com for the following:

The special 8-man No. 1 Contender Tournament will continue overseas as SmackDown! heads to the land of the rising sun.

In quarterfinal action, Orlando Jordan will take on United States Champion John Cena and Rey Mysterio will face Kurt Angle.

The Cena/Jordan winner would face Booker T in the semifinals at No Way Out. The Mysterio/Angle winner will get a bye straight into the final match, also at No Way Out, since Undertaker and Renee Dupree ended with a double countout last week.

Meanwhile, will Carlito’s petition finally come back to haunt the embattled GM Theodore Long? Don’t miss the first-ever SmackDown! produced in Japan.

WWE Smackdown! *Spoilers* (3/2/05) - Albany, New York

Report by: pwinsider.com

Smackdown:

John Cena comes out to the biggest pop of the night. Pretty much he just wants to fight JBL. He’s a fighting champion and therefore will defend his US title against Orlando Jordan in the main event

1st match- Tag Team Title match- Eddie Guerrero and Rey Misterio Jr. beat Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns with Eddie hitting the frogsplash on Luther and Rey hits the 619 on the outside. Luther and Jindrak argue after the match and Jindrak knocks Luther down with a single punch.

Carlito and Teddy Long backstage segment. Carlito has to listen to Teddy Long or he will leave Smackdown. First assignment, start shoveling snow outside of the Pepsi Arena.

2nd match- Booker T beat Heidenrich. Heidenrich tries to use a chair. Gets DDTed on the chair + axe kick. booker wins

Best part of the match. Angle comes out with a couple of cops for the Angle Invitational. Talks about “beating HBK to a bloody pulp” on his home “turf” on RAW. Shows the footage from Monday night. The challenger comes out with hoody covering his face. Angle says “You think I’m that gullible? You’re Shawn Michaels” It’s not Michaels, it’s some wrestler from Albany, New York (big pop). Angle says something then the cameraman behind Angle takes off his hat, fake mustache and eyebrows revealing HBK. Let the brawling begins. Security stops it. Enormous HBK chants. He love us and gives us a round of applause.

Backstage promo- Michelle McCool, Joy and Lauren “I am completely useless” Jones are backstage. All you need to know is that Dawn Marie is p*ssed at Michelle and challenges her to a match, a mixed tag match. They can pick any partner.

3rd match- Dawn Marie brings out Renee Dupree. Michelle brings out *suprise* Big Show. Michelle tries to wrestle. She sucks. Tries to do a springboard type elbow but messed up. Big Show chokeslams Renee. 123. Show and random diva #4 wins match.

Various WM commericals shown.

Carlito shown outside the Pepsi shoveling snow with one hand. Car passed by and covers Carlito with water.

JBL promo. We are stupid, we should respect him. Talks about his great upbringing. We’re white trash blah blah blah. Leaves pissed off because he’s booed like mad.

Bashams, JBL and Jordan go to leave but JBL stops him and tells him he better win the US title or he’ll “send him back to the hood and his people” RACIST COMMENT! Thanks for insulting 5% of the crowd who are black.

4th match- US Title match- Orlando Jordan beat John Cena to become the new US champion. Bashams ran in and distracted the ref as JBL clocks Cena with the WWE title allowing Jordan to get the pin.

Immediately following the cameras going off. Cena is still in the ring and Taker comes in. HUGE pop. The dark match was advertised as a 6 man tag between Undertaker, Cena and Big Show vs. Kurt Angle, JBL and Heindenrich but it’s changed to a regular tag match with Cena and Taker vs. JBL and Orlando Jordan. Funny stuff. Tazz wears JBL’s hat and JBL wears Tazz’s sunglasses. Lots of funny stuff. JBL throws up the X injury sign saying Jordan is hurt. JBL wrestle in dress shoes and pants. JBL calls for a time out during the match. Also, tries to choke Taker with the tag rope. Eventually we get Take chokeslamming Jordan and the FU from Cena on JBL to end the match. everyone leaves except for Taker who does his regular stuff much to the satisfaction of the crowd.

Not a great show but live events are extremely fun

Biggest Pop:
Cena
HBK/Taker
Big Show
Eddie/Rey

Biggest Heat:
JBL
Kurt Angle

**SPOILERS** WWE SmackDown! Taping Results
08 Mar 2005 by Justin Rowland

WWE Smackdown Tapings
Roanoke Civic Center
Roanoke, VA 3/8/05
by John Massey

Here are the results of tonight's Smackdown tapings in Roanoke, Virginia (taped 3/8/05 to air 3/10/05):

The show opened with the Kid Rock video altered with a historical Wrestlemania twist.

No dark matches.

Velocity:

1) Joey Matthews and Johnny Nitro defeated Nunzio and Shannon Moore in about 6 minutes when Nitro pinned Nunzio after a tag team DDT.

2) The Bashman Brothers defeated Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas. Holly had Danny Bashman up on his head and Doug kicked Holly in the head, which lead to Danny rolling over for the pinfall in about 8 minutes.

3) Spike Dudley defeated Scotty 2 Hotty in seven minutes. After an unsuccessful Worm attempt, Spike rolled up Scotty and held on to the tights for the pin.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. then made his way out for commentary.

4) Paul London defeated Akio in a #1 Contender Cruiserweight match. Very good match that went about thirteen minutes. The finish saw Akio go for a top rope hurrancanrana and London reverse out of it with a roll through for the pin.

The Eugene Hollywood Wrestlemania Video aired. As this aired, production changed the set over to Smackdown.

Michael Cole and Tazz then made their way out.

Smackdown:

There was no opening at the beginning.

1) Booker T. defeated Heidenreich in a no disqualification match in 9 minutes. This could air at any point on the show since it was taped prior to the opening of Smackdown. Booker won after nailing the Green Machine with a harlem hangover, sidekick and then a vicious chairshot. Not bad considering one of the parties involved and Booker did his best to carry his opponent to a decent match.

The HHH/Batista Wrestlemania Promo aired.

The Smackdown opening was then shown. A video package recapped last week's events with JBL, John Cena and Orlando Jordan.

JBL & the Cabinet In-Ring Promo
-This was about a fifteen minute segment. JBL and company made their way to the ring. JBL talked about last week's events and how Orlando Jordan is the greatest athlete in Smackdown history. He then challenged Eddie Guerrero and Rey Misterio Jr. to a tag team title match later on in the night. He said that JBL and Jordan would take two more belts by the end of the night. JBL then talked about Cena's disrespect for the United States title by customizing the belt saying "That's something kids do to their cars when they should be saving their money for their education: pathetic!" JBL then dropped the belt into a trash can and they blew up the spinning belt inside of the trash can in the center of the ring. JBL then presented Orlando with the previous version of the US Title (saying he had it shipped directly from WWE headquarters this week) and JBL and his cabinet left the ring.

The Triple H Hollywood Wrestlemania Video aired.

A video then showed the challenge that Randy Orton issued to the Undertaker on Raw.

Backstage, Teddy Long talked to Carlito and told Carlito that his job tonight would be to find the Undertaker and get his answer to Orton's challenge for Mania.

Elsewhere backstage, Eddy and Rey were talking about the tag team match later in the show when Chavo Jr. came in and told them that he does not want to see them lose the tag team titles because that would make him the only Guerrero with gold. Interesting segment but it didn't go anywhere during the show.

Josh Matthews was shown waiting outside (apparently for John Cena to arrive).

Carlito was then shown searching for Undertaker backstage. He was visibly scared (by this point, we've had about 45 minutes without in-ring action. Can we get a match?)

2) Mark Jindrak defeated Luther Reigns in 3 minutes (I should have kept my mouth shut about wanting a match). Reigns came out first and Jindrak attacked him int he aisle. Not the greatest action in this one, and the crowd had a faint "boring" chant for much of the 180 seconds that the match lasted.

John Cena arrived but basically brushed off Matthews backstage.

John Centa In-Ring Promo
-Cena then made his way out to a huge pop. Cena really stepped it up with his mic work in this segment. He was more serious and direct and I think that went far with the crowd (as opposed to the gay jokes and the humor that caters to pre-teens). Cena called out JBL and crew saying that they got in his business and how he wants a fight. After a couple of minutes, Teddy Long made his way out. He said that he could not risk the WWE Title match at Wrestlemania but could change the tag team match later in the night and give Cena a rematch against Jordan for the US Title. Cena didn't like the idea and asked Long, "You did see what they did to me last week didn't you?" Cena basically told Long that he's either a part of the solution or part of the problem, and tonight, he was part of the problem. Cena then gave Long the FU and left the ring.

The ring crew then hung Kurt Angle's gold medals above the ring and placed a ladder in the ring.

Kurt Angle then made his way out. He talked about Shawn Michaels' accomplishments and then showed footage of the 1994 Wrestlemania Ladder Match between Michaels and Razor Ramon. Angle then said that he would show Michaels how a real ladder match is executed.

3) Kurt Angle defeated Hometown Hero Mike Haywood in 3 minutes. Angle destroyed Haywood and dominated for the short while it lasted, and did so while the ladder was erected in the ring. The ladder didn't move, nor was it used. Angle then put Haywood in the Ankle Lock for a few moments as Haywood tapped out repeatedly. Angle then non-chalantly climbed the ladder and retreived his medals. At the top of the ladder, Angle sat. The crowd chanted "You Suck" (Angle and JBL were equally over as the biggest heels of the night). Angle said that the ladder match wasn't so bad, and if he would have faced Michaels in 94, it would have had the same result. Angle then showed footage of the 1989 Wrestlemania with the debut of the Rockers. He said that Marty Jannetty taught Michaels everything he knows but Shawn always got the spotlight. He said that he's challenged Jannetty next week for Smackdown and Jannetty will face him and that he will make him tap out.

The Undertaker Hollywood Wrestlemania video aired.

Wrestlemania Recall aired from a couple years ago with the backstage segment involving Okerlund, Heenan, Moolah and Mae Young leaving the room backstage.

Backstage, The Big Show was interviewed regarding Akebono. Footage was shown of the staredown in Japan between the two. Josh Matthews told the Big Show that Akebono has challenged the Big Show to a sumo match at Wrestlemania. Big Show accepted the challenge. This received no reaction whatsoever from the crowd. Why? Because no one cares.

There was then a rundown of the Wrestlemania lineup.

The Christy Playboy Video aired.

Carlito In-Ring Segment
-Carlito then made his way out. He said that he needed to get an answer from the Undertaker regarding Orton and that he was tired of looking for him backstage (even though we only saw him search one place all night). Undertaker made his way out. He entered the ring, grabbed Carlito by the throat, said a few words and accepted the challenge, then tombstoned Carlito and left. The actual words spoke by Taker and the tombstone lasted less than 45 seconds. The entrance and Taker leaving the ring lasted close to six minutes. Ridiculous.

Backstage, JBL and Orlando began walking towards the ring entrance area and talking about the upcoming match-up.

4) Eddie Guerrero and Rey Misterio Jr. defeated JBL and Orlando Jordan in 15 minutes via disqualification. Eddie and Rey made their way out first in a customized car. JBL and company then made their way out in the limo. This was a solid matchup, but not enough to save the lack of quality (or any for that matter) in-ring work on the show. A lack in logic here. Cena was angry in his in-ring segment earlier in the show. He wanted JBL and company. He demanded they come to the ring. He held a pipe doing all of this. Teddy Long never once threated to suspend him, fire him, fine him, or any type of punishment if he attacked JBL and company. So one would think that Cena would come down immediately after the match began and attack the people that he had been after all night. This didn't happen of course. Instead, the match went fifteen minutes and when Rey Jr. went for the 619, JBL nailed him over the head with a chair, prompting a DQ. The Bashams then ran out (they were originally at ringside but sent to the back by the referee midway through). The Bashams, JBL, and Jordan laid out Eddie and Rey. Cena then ran in (through the crowd) and cleaned house and cleared the ring of JBL and company. JBL then hit the floor and jumped over the barricade, standing by the fans. JBL and Cena had a staredown and that's where the show will end on Thursday night.

After the cameras stopped rolling, Cena called JBL back into the ring. He challenged him to a match and JBL said not tonight. JBL and Jordan then tried to head backstage but Cena had another idea in mind instead, a tag team match. The Big Show then came out. So the advertised dark match of JBL/Cena/Big Show 3-way for the title has now become JBL/Jordan v. Big Show/Cena.

In the dark match main event, Big Show and John Cena defeated JBL and Orlando Jordan in 13 minutes. Cena pinned Jordan to end the match. After the match, Cena talked some more on the mic and left through the crowd.

Final Notes:

I would estimate about 5500-6000 in attendance. For the parts of the arena not blocked off, it was surpisingly full. The show reminded me of some old WCW Thunder shows, where there just isn't enough big name, star power on the show to carry the event. It also brought back flashbacks of the Russo era with the jumps from one segment to another and large gaps without any in-ring action. If that isn't enough, if you look at the Velocity results, three of the four matches have been on Velocity at least once in the past month. Creative probably doesn't care about that, because no one watches Velocity right?

It was nice to not have to deal with garbage segments involving the unnamed and unimportant Smackdown divas. That was one plus on the show. Also, JBL was great in his role. As mentioned earlier, JBL and Angle were about equally over as the biggest heels of the night and both were excellent in their mic work. Cena, Taker, Big Show and Booker T were the most over faces during the night. Everyone was great in their roles and worked really hard with what they had to work with. It's just unfortunate that the company isn't giving them MUCH to work with.
